§ Diagnostic · six questions

Scope the engagement before you write the brief.

Tell us where you are, what is missing, and what decision is coming up. The result is a recommended engagement model, the phase to start in, the typical duration and the artifacts to expect, with the full scoring shown so you can disagree with it. Nothing you enter leaves this browser until you choose to send it.

The weights are NoArt Systems' defaults: a starting position, not a verdict. The result shows the next two fits as well, so the conversation can begin where the recommendation ends.

§ 01

Six questions

Pick one answer in each. The order does not matter.

§ 01 — StageWhere are you in the initiative?

Pick the description that fits today, not where you hope to be in three months.

Why we askThe phase decides whether the first artifact is a problem definition, an architecture, or a delivery review.

§ 02 — DurationHow long do you expect to need help?

A rough order. Engagements can be re-scoped, but the answer shapes the model.

Why we askSprints close one question; retainers carry standing access; fractional roles sit between.

§ 03 — GapWhat is missing on your side?

Pick the most acute gap. The recommendation leans toward closing it first.

Why we askThe shape of the gap chooses the model more reliably than the size of the budget.

§ 04 — CommitmentWhat is the upcoming commitment?

The real decision the work supports.

Why we askA pending decision creates a deadline, and a deadline disciplines scope.

§ 05 — AudienceWho will the work be presented to?

Tunes the artifact mix.

Why we askA board memo and an architecture review are not the same document.

§ 06 — OversightDo you need an ongoing leadership presence?

The last question. It decides whether a fractional model fits.

Why we askSome decisions are made once; others need someone in the room every week.

§ 03

How the scoring works

The same transparency we ask of a scoring system built for a client.

Each answer adds a small number of points to one or more of the seven engagement models and to one or more of the three phases. The model with the most points is recommended; the phase with the most points is where the work starts. The weights are fixed and visible in the page's source, and the result lists every model's score, so a different reading of your situation can be argued from the same table.

This is a sorting aid, not a sales funnel. A recommendation here is the opening position for a conversation; the engagement that is actually proposed follows from the conversation, and may be smaller than the tool suggests.
